Prompt
The question or instruction a user gives an AI engine — equivalent to a search query.
Definition
Prompts are the input side of AI search. They tend to be longer, more conversational, and more specific than traditional search queries — "what's the best CRM for a 5-person SaaS startup that needs Stripe integration" rather than just "best CRM." For AI visibility tracking, prompts are the unit you monitor: each tracked prompt is a question your customers might ask AI, and each answer is a measurement of how AI describes your category.
